In 1983, as the video game industry crashed, truckloads of unsold Atari cartridges were famously buried in a landfill in Alamogordo, New Mexico. For decades, this was considered an urban legend—until it was proven true in 2014 when a documentary team unearthed the games in a historic excavation featured in the film “Atari: Game Over” (produced by Microsoft and aired on Xbox Live and Netflix).

This particular game was recovered during that excavation and is part of a limited number of officially authenticated cartridges. It is graded by CGC, ensuring its condition and legitimacy as part of the dig.
